Mapping and partner analysis

Reju intends to establish full-scale facilities for the chemical recycling of polyester in Europe, and to build circular polyester systems that reduce dependence on production and supply from Asia. Those systems require access to the right material, viable outlets for the recycled polyester, and the right partnerships. Reju therefore needs a clear picture of the players in the circular textile system for polyester in Europe, and to be able to determine which of them are the right partners to move forward with.

“We have created a clear map of the Swedish market that will help customers quickly understand which players are relevant to them. This enables them to focus their efforts on the right partnerships right from the start.”

Jenny Åström, Circular Business Strategist, Xvii

Three key lessons

  • The map sets the direction. Building a circular value chain begins with understanding which actors are involved and how materials actually move between them.
  • The right partner isn’t always the biggest one. The value lies in assessing which players meet the need, not in compiling a long list of names.
  • Circular systems are built collaboratively. A chemical recycling plant is only as strong as the network of suppliers and partners surrounding it.
