PEAB - Industrial Symbiosis – Stakeholder Mapping
“We are very pleased with our collaboration with Xvii and had a positive experience throughout the project. The assignment was complex and somewhat vaguely defined, but Xvii handled it in a structured and professional manner, delivering clear and valuable results. We can highly recommend the company to other clients.”

The Big Why
PEAB is exploring how industrial symbiosis can be integrated into future development projects to promote resource efficiency, collaboration, and circular flows. Lockryd, a growing industrial area, presents a unique opportunity to bring together actors who are willing and able to co-locate and share resources in a symbiotic setup.
The Challenge Today
To understand the potential for industrial symbiosis in Lockryd and the broader Västra Götaland region, PEAB commissioned Xvii to identify relevant stakeholders and map out circular flows. The challenge was to gain a comprehensive overview of industries’ needs, opportunities, and willingness to collaborate, and to explore concrete symbiosis scenarios.
The Solution
Xvii conducted over 40 interviews with companies and organizations across various sectors to gather insights and perspectives. The team mapped circular flows and identified opportunities for collaboration, such as the reuse of waste heat from data centers and textile recycling. The project also included stakeholder mapping and scenario development for future symbiotic setups.
Throughout the project, Xvii actively shared knowledge and fostered engagement around industrial symbiosis. The companies involved responded positively to PEAB’s initiative and expressed interest in integrating symbiotic solutions into their operations.
